What BikeBase Is

BikeBase is a personal cycling analysis tool that helps riders track rides, analyze routes, monitor training load, and manage bike maintenance. It is a small, self-hosted application not operated as a commercial service.

Data We Collect

When you connect your RideWithGPS or Strava account, BikeBase accesses:

• Activity metadata (name, date, distance, elevation, duration, activity type)
• GPS track data (latitude, longitude, elevation, timestamps)
• Sensor data when available (power, heart rate, cadence, temperature)
• Your athlete name and account ID

BikeBase does not access your Strava social data (followers, comments, kudos), photos, or private messages.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely for:

• Displaying your ride history and statistics
• Computing training metrics (work, TSS, normalized power)
• Detecting and analyzing climbs
• Route analysis and time estimation
• Bike maintenance tracking

Data Storage

Your data is stored in a SQLite database on a private Hetzner VPS. GPS track data is cached on disk for performance. Data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS) and is not accessible to other users.

Data Sharing

Your data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising. BikeBase does not use analytics trackers that share data with third parties.

Data Retention

Imported ride data is retained in your account until you choose to delete it. Disconnecting a service (Strava or RideWithGPS) stops future syncing but does not delete previously imported data.

Data Deletion

You can delete all data imported from a specific service at any time from the Connections page using the "Delete Data" button. This permanently removes all rides, track data, and analysis from that source. To request full account deletion, email support@realitycheckmyroute.app. All data will be removed within 48 hours.

Third-Party Services

BikeBase integrates with:

• Strava (Strava Privacy Policy) — used to import your activities via OAuth 2.0
• RideWithGPS (RWGPS Privacy Policy) — used to import your rides and routes
